Zinc Roofing Installation in Surrey Our aim is to provide you, the potential customer, with the knowledge and peace of mind that a quality zinc or copper roof does not mean high prices.
Having a zinc, copper or stainless steel roof will save you money in the long-term
Durability: These materials are designed to last. All roofs guaranteed 25 years
Finish: There are a multitude of different finishes to choose from. Natural (Bright) zinc is marginally cheaper in price as it is the only zinc product we install that hasn't been treated. The Pre-weathered zincs range from various shades of grey ie; Blue/grey, quartz, graphite or Anthracite
There is also subtle colours such as the VMzinc pigmento range which are a quartz grey with a hint of colour, blue, green or red.
Finally, the Bio-laquered zincs, bright bold colours that will make the dullest building stand out.
Affordability: The price of copper and zinc are at the mercy of London metal exchange so prices will vary but in most cases, it is cheaper than lead and less restricted in terms of building regulations.
Maintenance: There is none, these are natural materials that are self-weathering, natural zinc will dull down over time from its original shiny metallic finish to a matte grey. Copper will over time go brown and finally green.
Some of the advantages of using pre-weathered Rhine zinc are as follows.
Unlike natural zinc, pre-weathered zinc does not lose its original appearance due to the natural weathering process and will keep the sheen finish that it has when first installed. There are a number of different finishes, various greys, blacks and colours. Contact our office for more information As well as being an ideal roofing material, this particular zinc is very effective as an external wall cladding and quite popular with architects of today. The other advantage for using this sheet metal as opposed to lead for example is that its size restrictions are significantly less, a typical lead roof bay would be 2 - 3 meters before the expansion restrictions come into play, whereas a 10-meter zinc bay would not be affected. The sheets of zinc we use are between 0.7 and 0.8 of a millimetre thick. This allows the material to be flexible whilst still being strong and still remaining light enough not to put any unnecessary strain on the structure that it is applied to. Turn Coated Stainless Steel and Aluminium: Harder than copper or zinc stainless steel comes in 0.3 or 0.4 mm thick sheets, this allows it to become manageable such is the rigidness of the material. This is probably the most durable of all the sheet metal roofing materials.
Aluminium is incredibly light and flexible material making it good for barrel vaulted roofs although it does not solder easily unlike the other materials making it less ideal for complicated projects or roofs with a lot of pipes and other penetrations coming through.
